Proposed Sanitary Sewer Plan

The City’s comprehensive sanitary sewer plan is a document that guides orderly development and construction of the City’s sanitary sewer system. Generally, the sanitary sewer is constructed from the downstream end to the upstream end as it is requested by land owners and developers. It is subject to periodic review and revisions as formal development proposals are made. In the Northwest Area - Robert District, the sanitary sewer will be installed throughout the region as new developments are proposed.

Comprehensive Sanitary Sewer Plan (CSSP)

In 2017, the City of Inver Grove Heights updated its CSSP to divert the northern-most extent of the Robert District sewershed* to the existing B-Line sewershed. The diversion allowed for a shallower trunk system in the southern extent of the Robert District while also allowing for development to occur in the northern-most extent independently of downstream development.

In January 2021, a more refined analysis of the Robert District sewershed was performed as part of the city’s engineering review of the Canvas at Inver Grove Heights development.

The results of the analysis show that sanitary sewers can be shallowed 10-15 feet more than originally anticipated, which creates cost savings.
