IGH PD Citizen Academy program is designed to offer citizens an inside look into the IGH PD’s operations. We invite you to participate and learn more about IGH PD, including:
Tour and history of the police department
Functions of patrol, investigations, SWAT, negotiators, physical evidence team, bike patrol, traffic & K-9 units
Review of typical calls for service
DWI demonstration
Traffic stops, normal and felony stops
Officer survival, use of force
Laws of arrest
Searching and handcuffing a suspect
Additional Information & Future Program Dates
The academy classes are taught by IGH PD Officers and sessions are generally held once a week in the fall for about 8 weeks. We ask that you make a commitment to attend each session.
After the successful completion of this program, citizens will be given an opportunity to ride-along with an IGH PD Officer during their shift.
