Become an IGH PD Explorer

The IGH PD Explorers are a Boy Scout-based group for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement and have completed 8th grade. The program offers the opportunity to learn about law enforcement through a fun-filled, hands-on approach, promoting growth and development in adolescent youth. IGH PD currently has several officers who participated in a Police Explorer Program when they were young.

Explorers meet from October through April and have one joint training per month with other posts. This training culminates with the annual Minnesota State Conference in Rochester, MN. At this conference, Explorer units from across the state come together to compete in different law enforcement-related scenarios, such as Arrest and Search, Domestics, Burglary Response, Firearms, Traffic Stops and White Collar Crime.

In addition to training and the competition, the Explorers help give back to the community throughout the year in many ways. They assist with events like Safety Camp, the Dakota County Fair, and Inver Grove Heights Days.
