We 💚 our Seniors!

IGH Parks & Rec offers seniors many opportunities to stay active and and engaged at the Veterans Memorial Community Center and find a sense of community and friendship in the IGH Senior Club. Senior Center programming is provided in partnership with the ISD 199 Community Education Department.

55+ Driver Safety Class - Virtual & In-Person

(ages 55+) Certified instructor teaches this class. Those who complete the class qualify for a 10% discount on auto insurance. The Driver Improvement courses are open to the public and held at the VMCC; Pre-registration is required through the MN Highway Safety & Research Center

Create a Canvas | June 8, July 13, Aug. 3: 6-8 p.m. each night | $35/session

Come and create your own masterpiece in acrylic on canvas with Gail from Joyful H’Arts Studio! This class is FUN art not fine art. Your instructor will guide you step-by-step through a two-hour painting...no experience necessary! Each session will have a different painting.

Join in the fun and games hosted by the IGH Senior Club at the VMCC in the Senior Center. All experience levels are welcome. No registration required — just come!

Sleeping Mats for the Homeless Project

First Tuesday of the month | 1 p.m.

Put those plastic grocery bags to good use and keep them out of the landfill by joining us in making sleeping mats for the homeless. Mats are crocheted out of plastic bag yarn (PLARN). Jobs include: cutting (bring your own scissors), sorting and crocheting (please bring your own 16mm or size (Q) crochet hook). Directions will be provided. Mats will be donated to Friday Night Street Gang, an organization that supports the homeless. If you have any questions, email: joann@usfamily.net

Pickleball Leagues - Our adult pickleball league is a fun, semi-competitive league for teams of two players. Game times and schedule will be determined by the final number of teams that register. Game times are estimates. Minimum eight teams, maximum 12 teams.

Time: 6–9 p.m. Fee: $40 per team
Location: North Valley Park

  • Doubles BRONZE/Beginning Level (2.0-3.0)
    Dates: Wednesdays, starting June 21
  • Doubles SILVER Level (3.0-4.0) 
    Dates: Thursdays, starting June 22
