The City of Inver Grove Heights currently has over 160 miles of water mains ranging in diameter from 6 to 30 inches. The system includes over 1600 fire hydrants and 7136 water services. The city has 10 million gallons of treated water in storage. The reservoir at 2015 75th Street stores 5 million gallons, the Water Treatment Plant stores 1 million gallons, Asher Tower located at 5650 Asher Avenue East stores 1 million gallons, Arbor Point Tower located at 8815 Broderick Avenue East stores 2 million gallons and Northside Tower located at 1770 50th Street stores 1million gallons. The water towers are designed as surge tanks and are used to regulate the pressure in the water system.
