UPDATE ON VMCC CLOSURE
Last night Governor Walz announced new dial-backs on organized sports activities, fitness centers and gyms in an effort to curb COVID-19 infections, and we announced that due to these dial-backs, Veterans Memorial Community Center (VMCC) will close on Saturday, November 21 and is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, December 19. As promised, here is more info:
The closure includes The Grove Aquatic and Fitness Center, the senior center and the ice arenas. The National Guard Gymnasium will remain closed to the public but open for COVID-19 testing by entering through Door J.
All indoor and outdoor programs, rentals, classes and events organized by the Parks and Recreation are canceled during this time. Members and those registered for programs should check their email in the next several days for info on refunds. However, we will begin offering virtual activities starting the week of November 30. Go to ighmn.gov/recreation for details.
IGH parks and trails remain open!
If you have any questions, the Recreation staff are available by email or phone (651-450-2480) during business hours. You can also visit ighmn.gov/COVID-19 for city COVID-19 updates.
We are very thankful for our members and patrons who have come to the VMCC safely over the last five months. When this latest closure is over, we will be here ready to welcome you back! Take care.
