2025 IGH Pavement Management Initiative - Barbara Avenue & 46th Street Area
Construction Update
This Week: (08/04-08/09)
Roadway crews continued sub-cutting operations, completing most areas this week and planning to finish the remainder in the first half of next week. Asphalt removal and reclaiming were completed on the north half of Barbara Avenue, the north half of Bacon Avenue, and all of Upper 45th Street in preparation for utility work. A second utility crew mobilized late in the week and will begin work with sanitary sewer installation in the reclaimed areas. Because this work is very deep, major traffic disruptions are expected and there will be no access through active utility zones for safety reasons. Crews will backfill as they progress. Residents should follow parking notices from the contractor and park outside active construction areas if vehicle access is needed between 7 AM and 7 PM.
Next Week (08/11-08/16):
Roadway crews will complete sub-cutting in areas where utility work is finished, while the sanitary sewer crew starts at the Bacon Avenue and 46th Street intersection and works north toward Upper 45th Street. Access disruptions should be expected during active work hours. The utility crew currently working on 50th Street will return midweek to begin watermain installation behind the sanitary crew. Once sub-cutting is complete, roadway crews will shift to 50th Street, and curb installation will take place in recently sub-cut areas. Residents impacted by curb work will receive driveway access notices from the contractor in advance.
Please note that all work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
