PARENT/CHILD LEVELS (ages 6–36 months with a parent/ caregiver 16 years or older)

  • PARENT TOT: Water familiarization, led by your child's parent or caregiver, child will explore the water in developmentally appropriate ways and prepare for what they will learn in preschool classes.


  • LEVEL 1 (formerly Tadpole) – For children new to the water, or potentially apprehensive in water, course orients children to the aquatic environment and basic aquatic skills. 
  • LEVEL 2 (formerly Starfish) – Build upon basic aquatic skills learned in level 1, begin supported movement in water.
  •  LEVEL 3 (formerly Minnow) – Increase proficiency and build on skills learned in level 1 and 2, increased distance and endurance, independence introduced.

School-Age (ages 5+)

  • LEVEL 1: Intro to Water Skills – Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.
  • LEVEL 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills – Children will learn basic swimming skills, movement in water.
  • LEVEL 3: Stroke Development– Additional guided practice will help students improve their skills.
  • LEVEL 4: Stroke Improvement – Kids will gain confidence during swim lessons, improve their stroke and gain additional aquatic skills.
  • LEVEL 5: Stroke Refinement – Guidance allows kids to refine their strokes and become more efficient swimmers.
  • LEVEL 6: Pre-Swim Team and Private Lesson– Rule the pool, strengthen your swimming skills and learn new techniques in our pre-swim team practice. This class offers swimmers age 8-14 (swim level 3 and above) the opportunity to explore what it is like to be on a swim team!

Group Lesson Fees (6-8 participants per lesson)

  • 8 Sessions | 30-minute lessons | $61/VMCC members; $68/non-members*

Wait Lists

If you are interested in registering for a class that has reached maximum enrollment, you may place your name on a wait list. An additional class may be added in order to accommodate the waiting list. You will be contacted if we can accommodate you or your child.
