Kids R.O.C.K. (Recreational Opportunities Catered to Kids)

Program Overview

Each week includes planned activities that promise to engage and fascinate kids through a variety of hands-on activities, games, crafts, songs and much more! In addition to our great in-room activities, children will play outside at the playground, swim in the water park, and play large group games like kickball and soccer on the turf or outside. All participants receive a T-shirt and daily snacks. Participants must bring their own bag lunch daily for camp.

Field trips are scheduled bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Field trips are optional and require a separate registration and additional fees. To be eligible to attend a Kids R.O.C.K. field trip, your child must also be registered to attend Kids R.O.C.K. that day. Those who do not attend a field trip will engage in regularly scheduled activities at the community center.

If you need a copy of a previous Kids R.O.C.K, receipt, please follow our simple instructions. 

1. Sign into your online account 
2. Click on “Billing” on the left side. Tax statements can be found and generated on your Statements tab under the Details section. Here you can see all transactions made for any member on your account and for any set date range. Reach out to kidsrock@ighmn.gov if you need any assistance.

Parent Information Sessions

These optional sessions are a great opportunity to learn more about Kids R.O.C.K. and ask any questions you may have. These sessions are not required, and we are happy to answer any additional questions you may have. We encourage you to review the Camp Guide first, as it provides key details about the program. We’ll have coloring sheets and a few quiet activities available for kids who tag along, but these sessions are designed for adults to learn about the program and get help signing up.

Registration

Camp Registration

• Priority registration (2025 families) begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 9
  • Priority registration is password protected. All 2025 families eligible to register will receive an email with this password from kidsrock@ighmn.gov in March
• New participant registration: Monday, March 23 at 9 a.m.
• Registration closes: June 1 or when program fills

Registration Process

•  Visit Playground's website to register online for Kids R.O.C.K.
• Complete a camp application online for each child; this is where you'll fill out the required documentation, provide a debit/credit card for payments, and submit your requested schedule. A confirmation email will be sent to you from support@tryplayground.com.
• We'll review your camp application and email you a confirmation if your child is accepted; we'll contact you if we have any questions or need to make any adjustments to your child's schedule
• If your child is accepted, you'll be charged the registration fee (see fees section below) to hold your child's spot in camp
• If your child is added to the waitlist or not accepted into camp, you will not be charged a registration fee

Field Trips

Field Trip Registration

To participate in a Kids R.O.C.K. field trip, your child must be registered for Kids R.O.C.K. on the same day. Field trip locations will be confirmed prior to the start of camp registration. Field trips will be offered on Wednesdays, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, and August 12

• Field trips registration begins Monday, April 20 at 9 a.m.
• Field trips are optional and require a separate registration and additional costs
• Your child must be enrolled to attend Kids R.O.C.K. on the day of the field trip

Field Trips Schedule

To attend a Kids R.O.C.K. field trip, your child must also be registered to attend Kids R.O.C.K. that day. Check back late January for field trip schedule.

Camp Fees

Registration fee: $115 per child

• This non-refundable fee holds your child's spot in our program and does not go towards tuition
  •  A credit card is required to process this initial fee, which will incur a processing fee. All future tuition payments will be automatically deducted from the payment method selected at registration. To avoid processing fees, we recommend linking a checking account as your payment method.
• Discounts:
  • VMCC household membership discount: $50 off the registration fee per child
    • You must have an active household VMCC membership at time of registration, and the child participating in Kids R.O.C.K. must be on the membership. The discount will be applied to all children under the household VMCC membership
  • Multi-child discount: $50 off registration fee for each additional child
  • Discounts cannot be combined

• 5 days a week: $225
• 4 days a week: $205
• 3 days a week: $175
• 2 days a week: $135
• 1 day a week: $85

Flexible Scheduling

Kids R.O.C.K. offers flexible scheduling to help families build a camp schedule that works best for them. Families may choose up to five days per week for any number of weeks, based on availability. Camp schedules can include as few as one, two, three or four days per week, and selected days may vary from week to week.

Once your schedule is submitted, those dates are reserved for your child. Schedule changes may be requested by following the procedures outlined in the 2026 Kids R.O.C.K. Camp Guide (available February 2, 2026). Families are responsible for payment of all reserved dates, regardless of attendance, unless changes are made and approved within the outlined guidelines.

Please note that refunds or transfers are not provided for illness or missed days, and schedules are established at time of registration.

Childcare Center

Childcare is available at the VMCC for infants and youth ages 6 months to 11 years for guests and members while they use the VMCC facilities.

• Drop-in childcare available (no registration required)
• Children can stay up to 90 minutes (1.5 hours)
• Members whose children are included on the membership receive this care for FREE 
• Guests pay $6/hr per child
• Childcare center accepts up to 12 children at a time

• Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-noon
