Resident Access and Worker Identification:

We’ve received questions and concerns regarding construction workers requesting access to residents’ homes during the ongoing work in the neighborhood. We want to clarify the situation and provide guidance:

Xcel Energy Gas Work (Separate from City Road Project):

Xcel Energy is currently installing new gas services in the neighborhood as part of a separate project from the City’s roadway construction. However, the two projects are being coordinated to minimize disruption.

  • Xcel has contracted Primoris Services Corporation (PSC), and its division Q3 Contracting, to perform this work.

  • Gas crews may request access to your home to complete tasks required by federal law, including:

    • Televising your sewer line before gas service installation (to prevent cross-bores).

    • Re-lighting pilot lights on gas appliances once gas service is restored.

City Water Service Work: 

As part of the City’s watermain replacement, the City’s contractor may:

  • Knock on your door to ask that you turn off your internal water shutoff valve so they can connect your home to a temporary water service.

  • Request access again later to turn the valve back on when permanent service is restored.

  • If you’re not home, they will leave a door hanger with a 24-hour phone number so you can coordinate access.

We understand that unannounced visits can be concerning. If you are ever in doubt, please don’t hesitate to ask the worker for their credentials and the name and contact information of their company. You can also reach out to the City to verify their identity or to ask questions about the work being done. If you have any concerns or need clarification, please contact the City’s on-site construction inspector, Nick Hahn, at 651-470-6767. We’re here to help ensure you feel informed and secure throughout the project.
