[ARCHIVED] Fitness Center Flooring Project

Fitness Center Flooring Project Sept. 29-Oct. 10

Fitness Center Flooring Project

October 9 Update: The fitness center is back open! Crews worked swiftly and we're thrilled to reopen ahead of schedule. The walking track and main fitnes sarea are ready for us, and all equipment is back in place. Crews are finishing up the functional training space outside the fitness studio, so if you’re attending a class, please continue to use the lobby stairs to access the studios until that area is complete. Thank you!

FAQ

Why are we replacing the floors?
Our current fitness center flooring is over 20 years old and has reached the end of its lifespan. The new flooring will provide a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable workout environment for all members.

When will the fitness center be fully open?
We anticipate that the fitness center will fully reopen on Saturday, October 11. However, timelines may shift slightly depending on construction progress.

Will all equipment still be available?
Yes, most equipment will remain available, but it may be temporarily relocated to the Poolside Room or Brightside Room during the project. Please refer to the daily schedule for availability.

Why are some pieces of equipment unavailable?
Some large or specialized equipment cannot be easily moved, so it must be taken apart. We appreciate your patience and flexibility while we complete these exciting updates.

Why are only two treadmills available?
Treadmills require a significant amount of electricity; we’re limited by the outlets and wattage available in the Poolside Room & Brightside Rooms. We encourage you to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather by exploring the many parks and trails throughout Inver Grove Heights. It’s a great time to enjoy fresh air while staying active!

What equipment is available in the upper mezzanine during this project?
Cardio equipment including bikes, rowing machines, and NuStep machines will be available during the entire project.

When will the fitness center be fully open?
We anticipate that the fitness center will fully reopen on Saturday, October 11. However, timelines may shift slightly depending on construction progress.

Will fitness classes be running during this time?
Yes, the construction will not affect the drop-in or specialty class offerings. Please access the studio through the stairway or elevator in the main lobby and through the back door behind the track.

How can I stay informed about changes?
We’ll post daily updates at the front desk, on our website and social media. We will also send an email if there are any significant changes to the schedule.

Where should I walk/run since most of the treadmills will be out of service during this transition?
The track will be closed during this transition. We encourage you to use our facility to access the trails around our facility and the trail around the pond near City Hall.

Who can I contact with questions or concerns about this project?
Please email Katelyn, our Fitness Supervisor at kbrown@ighmn.gov.
