IGH Parks & Rec offers seniors many opportunities to stay active and and engaged at the Veterans Memorial Community Center and find a sense of community and friendship in the IGH Senior Club. Senior Center programming is provided in partnership with the ISD 199 Community Education Department.

Guitars for Vets
Over the past 12 years, Guitars for Vets (G4V) has refined a guitar instruction program aimed at providing veterans struggling with physical injuries, PTSD, and other emtional distress a unique therapeutic alternative. G4V pursues its mission to share the healing power of music by providing free guitar instruction here at the VMCC, a new acoustic guitar and accessory kit in a structured program run by volunteers. Sleeping Mats for the Homeless Project
First and third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. - VMCC
Put those plastic grocery bags to good use and keep them out of the landfill by joining us in making sleeping mats for the homeless. Mats are crocheted out of plastic bag yard (PLARN). Jobs include: cutting (bring your own scissors), sorting and crocheting (please bring your own 16mm or size Q crochet hook). Directions will be provided. Mats will be donated to Friday Night Street Gang, an organization that supports the homeless. If you have any questions, email Joann joann@usfamily.net.

Orchestra Hall Coffee Concert
Thursday, December 4
Start the day at Orchestra Hall with complimentary coffee and donuts before the 11 a.m. Classical Coffee Concert featuring the works by Caroline Shaw, Haydn and Dvorak's beloved New World Symphony.
After the performance (approx. 1 p.m.) head to Brit's Pub for their signature fish and chips.

Folsom Prison Experience
Friday, January 16
First enjoy lunch at Coyote Moon Grille overlooking Territory Golf Club, then head to the historic Paramount Theater to explore the Visual Arts Center and nearby gallery. At 1:30 p.m. experience the energy of Johnny Cash's iconic 1968 Folsom Prison concert in a powerful live tribute performance.

Guys & Dolls at Chanhassen Dinner Theaters
Wednesday, February 18
Enjoy a delightful lunch at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Following lunch there will be time to browse the on-site gift shops before the show begins. At 1 p.m. sit back for the matinee performance of Guys & Dolls featuring timeless songs like "Luck Be a Lady" and "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat". This fresh staging promises music, comedy and heart.

Murder Mystery Luncheon at Afton House Inn
Thursday, March 19
Spend the day at the historic Afton House Inn, a charming property overlooking the St. Croix River Valley. Upon arrival, guests will receive parts for the murder mystery play. Enjoy a lively two-hour interactive murder mystery performance—whether you choose to participate or simply observe—paired with a delicious lunch. After the show, take time to explore the inn and, if available, peek into its uniquely furnished guest rooms.

"Super Duos" Sheldon Theatre

Experience an elegant midday outing beginning with a seated luncheon at the St. James Hotel. - Day 1: Lunch at the National Czech & Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. That evening, travelers ill check into the Best Western on the river in Hannibal, Missouri and enjoy a scenic dinner cruise on the mark Twain Riverboat.
- Day 2: Lunch at Lambert's Cafe, "Home of the Thrown Roll", before heading to Memphis. Dinner will be at the historic Arcade Resturant.

"Courting Harry" History Theater
Thursday, May 28
Step into history with a day trip to the Minnesota History Theater in St. Paul, where your group will enjoy reserved main floor seating for the 10:00 a.m. performance of Courting Harry by Lee Blessing, directed by Joel Sass. This powerful play follows the lifelong friendship of Minnesota natives Warren Burger and Harry Blackmun as it is tested by their time together on the U.S. Supreme Court, offering drama and rich local history praised by the Star Tribune. After the show, savor a classic turkey dinner at Key’s Café.

Stillwater River Boat Cruise
Tuesday, June 9
Discover the charm of Stillwater, the birthplace of Minnesota, with its rich history, scenic river views, and beautifully preserved 19th-century architecture. Your visit begins at the St. Croix Boat & Packet Company docks, where you’ll board a modern, climate-controlled vessel for a relaxing mid-day cruise along the St. Croix River. While taking in the sights, enjoy a buffet-style deli luncheon. After the cruise, spend the afternoon exploring downtown Stillwater’s Pedestrian Plaza, home to unique boutiques, specialty shops, art galleries, and sweet treats. The day concludes with a convenient pick-up at 3 p.m., wrapping up a delightful blend of history, culture, and riverfront charm.

The IGH Senior Club is a place for camaraderie, socializing and entertainment, while participating in interactive and exciting activities, including SeniorLunch3monthly luncheons, weekly card games, a holiday party and more! Activities are held at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in the Senior Center (Community Room 2). The club is managed by a Board and in partnership with IGH Parks & Rec. Senior Club Board Officers meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m.

Note: All senior club payments for new membership and monthly luncheons are paid directly to the Senior Club. A locked drop box is by the Parks & Rec office, near the east ice arena (VMCC north entry, door E). Registration forms and envelopes are available at this drop box.
Monthly Member Luncheons
Senior club members enjoy the benefit of a monthly luncheon on the third Monday of the month from noon to 2 p.m. These luncheons bring together members in a fun, social gathering with entertainment and food. Registration is required by the Thursday before the luncheon. Register at the new locked drop box (see note above). Senior club membership required.

Every week the Senior Center hosts several card games. All card playing events are FREE for both members & non-members. No registration required, just make sure to be on time!

UCare Member Discounts
UCare for Seniors members and EssentialCare members are eligible for one $15 discount per calendar year on most community education/recreation programs including trips! Members simply show their UCare ID card when registering for the trip/class to receive the discount. Members must be enrolled with UCare at the time of the trip/class to receive the discount. UCare Choices and Fairview Choices members are not eligible for the $15 class discount. Other restrictions may apply.
Driver's Ed Refresher Courses
The Driver Improvement courses are open to the public; pre-registration is required. A MN Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor teaches this class. Those who complete the course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law. First time participants must complete the initial eight hours of training and a four hour refresher class every three years to maintain the discount.

Happy Feet Foot Services
Second Friday and fourth Tuesday of the month
Relax and enjoy a half hour of pampering! A nurse will provide a foot soak, nail trim, foot massage and foot treatment.

Personal Posture Analysis
This 60-minute session with Anne West, an NASM-certified personal trainer, will assess your muscle strength, flexibility, balance, movement, and posture to find any imbalances or issues. Anne will use the results to create a custom personal training program to correct these imbalances and improve your muscle function for a pain-free life. Personal training is not included in the assessment cost; training sessions must be purchased separately.
